Job Title: Manufacturing Test Technician (AOI/AXI)

65 – 75K  annually 

Job Overview

The Manufacturing Test Technician manages AOI/AXI functions, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots test equipment and PCBa, and supports engineers and production operators with equipment training, data collection, and system evaluations. Reports to Manufacturing Test Engineer and is located in Newark, CA.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform all AOI/5DX/AXI functions, including programming and scanning products
  • Review AOI/5DX/AXI inspection for accurate, consistent detection of component placement and solder joint defects
  • Work in close collaboration with the processing and engineering teams to improve visual defect yields and resolve processing issues
  • Resolve program-related issues as needed, including assisting off-shift Machine Support
  • Responsible for the entire AOI/5DX/AXI operation/line support activities
  • Support and maintain test handlers Troubleshooting AOI, AXI, and 5DX machines whenever necessary to support production
  • Assist superior to carry out various studies for quality improvement, program, and cycle time optimization for AOI/AXI/5DX operation.
  • Generate and fine-tune AOI/AXI/5DX NPI and sustaining program with acceptable false call rate
  • Generate/duplicate and fine-tune AO/AXI I/5DX NPI and sustaining program upon ECO/ Manufacturing Deviation
  • Support production line conversion and tester setup such as installing new fixtures, loading the correct test program, verifying and releasing the tester to production
  • Assist engineers in data collection and engineering evaluations
  • Provide guidance and training to production operators on equipment buy-off and safety
  • Communicate defects to responsible personnel
  • Inspect populated PCBs and identify component misplacement and solder defects to IPC-A-610 standards using a microscope
  • Responsible for daily/shiftily yield, efficiency, and effectiveness report
  • Support improvement initiatives and participates actively to improve work environment (5S)
  • Perform regularly scheduled preventative and unscheduled emergency repairs during operation/service of production equipment
  • Manage spare parts control and maintenance
  • Provide test support and tester preventive maintenance and calibration activities
  • Diagnose technical equipment problems, replace and/or repair parts, test and make adjustments; troubleshoot equipment issues and fault corrections
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

 

Key Job Requirements and Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in test equipment basic operation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of test equipment
  • Completion of Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering field or equivalent experience
  • Experience in AOI, AXI, 5DX, Flying Probe, and programming machines is preferred
  • Ability to read electrical and electronic schematic diagrams and blueprints
  • Knowledge of safety requirements when performing repair and troubleshooting of equipment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to write instructions
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills and experience
  • Proficient with basic applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Able to multi-task and/or willing to take on additional assignments
  • Adapts to changes (work plan, priority, and management decision) in the work environment
  • Competent in required job knowledge and skills to perform assigned tasks
  • Able to apply new work requirements with minimal supervision
  • Able to learn/develop new job knowledge or requirements quickly and to contribute at an effective level
  • Consistently completes assignments or work requirements on time without compromising on quality
  • Able to work cooperatively in a team & cross-functional team(s) as needed
